Jiufen (九份) & Houtong Railway station (侯硐車站)

I recently took a short trip to Jiufen and Houtong Railway station recently. Jiufen is a fun area to walk around. It’s much like other “tourist” areas in Taiwan in that it has an old street with ‘famous’ foods to buy for your family and friends. The weather was misty so I didn’t get to appreciate the view.

Houtong Railway station is an area with an old coal mine there. The real attraction though is the abundance of stray cats living around the station. People primarily stop here to take cute cat photos. I’m not much of a cat person so Houtong wasn’t so exciting for me.
