Finally! I’ve been waiting for this update for a long time. Make sure you update to 2.6.9. This update fixes that horrible problem where the Chinese keyboard would overlap over top of what you were writing.
Both are disgusting in my opinion, but which is more disgusting?
If you’re not living in Taiwan let me educate you.
Betel nut is chewed as a mild stimulant. It is kinda like drinking a cup of coffee but it really messes up your mouth and gums. They are sold by sexy betel nut beauties. All the betel nut girls I see though are usually old women or even men. I guess I need to get out to the countryside more. Anyways when I worked in Danshui there was a bus driver that talked like he was one of those smokers with a hole in his throat. It was scary and interesting to hear him say “xie xie” in his montone, robotic voice. I don’t think be a regular betel nut chewer.
On the subway in Taipei I can sometimes see a guy with a really long pinky fingernail. It looks really gross and I just want to go over there and snap it off. Well really I just try not to look at it so I don’t throw up. Pictures don’t do the long pinky nail justice. You have to see one in person. I am not sure why the guys grow them long. I heard it is for luck. I think they need all the luck they can get, will a woman sleep with a guy with a long pinky nail? I wonder.

Good quality pool cues and tables. There are basketball game machines outside the front door. It is in the same building as CityMart and the bowling alley.
A-One 台北市忠孝西路一段45號B1 (Taipei Main Station, exit M3) TEL: 2389-8833 Open 24 hours a day.
Good quality pool cues and tables. Free water and soda. The lady is really friendly at the front desk. This is my regular place because nobody smokes and the location is super convenient. You can buy a VIP membership card for NT$50 and it gives you a discounted rate. They also have locations in Guandu and Shilin.
14th floor of the Luxy Building 106台灣台北市大安區忠孝東路四段201號 Cost: NT$1/minute green tables, NT$2/minute blue tables
The Green tables are pretty shitty. If you are just looking to kill some time before going to the club though, you probably won’t care. I didn’t like this place because many people are smoking and the ceiling is low. It is a great location though!
Did I miss any places? Where do you play?
Who do you play with? I’m looking for more friends who like to play.
Look at the internet speed in Korea! I truly miss being able to download 2 hour movies while I ate dinner, then watch them immediately after. Korea is miles ahead of everybody in their internet infrastructure.
It’s a bit embarassing that even Romania has a higher average connection speed than Taiwan!
If this was a measure of internet speed in Taipei I think Taiwan would be a lot higher on this list. I guess the rural places brought down the average a lot.
You can ride the new subway line starting tomorrow, January 5th starting at 2pm. It seems to be opening suspiciously right before the presidential election happening in two weeks. Maybe it is just a coincidence?
